On that cold November morning she woke up full of excitement. But her good mood only stood a chance until the first news reached her. Happiness turned to anxiety, sadness, disbelief. The terrorist attacks in Paris last night caused cancellation of all the trains to the airport. Thankfully, they made it to Schiphol airport in Amsterdam on time. On one hand, it felt somewhat inappropriate to leave her beloved troubled Europe, on the other there was never a better time to leave the terrible events behind. And so she found herself for the third time in homeland of her darling, in the Caribbean island of Curaçao. Carefreeness, constant warm weather, colorfulness, diversity; those were only a few of the words she would describe this island with; island that was becoming so close to her heart. And yet there was still much to discover. This time, she tried out a cactus soup, mespel smoothie and they went on a short trip to the Boca Samí area, where they haven't set a foot before. But the most extraordinary experience came in a form of Christmas atmosphere in the thirty degree heat and palms decorated with Christmas adornments. She barely managed to heat up her bones and it was time to go back. Thankfully, as Christmas was coming, she could look forward to baking cookies with friends, drinking mulled wine and spending cozy evenings with her love...

Toho chladného listopadového rána se probudila plna radostného očekávání. Ale dobrá nálada vydržela pouze do prvních zpráv. Nadšení se proměnilo v úzkost, smutek, nevěřícnost. Kvůli nočním útokům v Paříži byly vlaky na letiště zcela zrušeny. Nakonec se však na Schiphol dostali včas. Na jednu stranu se cítila trochu nepatřičně, že opouští svou milovanou Evropu v době tak šokujících zpráv, na druhou stranu jako by nebylo lepšího načasování odjet daleko předaleko od těch hrůz. A tak se již potřetí ocitla v rodišti svého milovaného, na karibském ostrově Curaçao. Bezstarostnost, vždy krásně teplo, barevnost, rozmanitost; pouze několik z mnoha slov popisující tento ostrov, který se jí stal tak blízkým. A pořád bylo co nového objevovat, Tentokráte zkusila kaktusovou polévku, mespel smoothie a vyjeli si na krátký výlet do oblasti Boca Samí, kterou ještě nenavštívila. Ale nejnovějším zážitkem se pro ni bezesporu stalo nasávání vánoční atmosféry ve třicetistupňových vedrech s palmami ozdobenými vánočními cinkrlátky. Sotva si stihla prohřát kosti, už museli zase zpátky. Ještě, že se blížily Vánoce a ona se mohla těšit na pečení cukroví s kámoškama, svařené víno a útulné večery se svým drahým...
